Although I never tire of painting people and continue to be very happy to take Portrait Commissions, I have recently discovered a passion for painting Cityscapes and water. Charlie and I visited Venice, friends asked will you do paintings of Venice? Oh I don't think so I replied ' after all what could I bring to the table its been done so brilliantly SO many times!' Well we arrived,my jaw hit the floor,I have'nt felt such inspiraration for quite a while. Yes Venice has inspired and been the subject of many many countless Artists and now I'm one of them. Do I bring anything 'different to the table?' maybe not, but this is how I interpreted what I saw and felt. Although I love colour, recently my work is more and more about tones and values and the play of light.
Venice was the perfect place for that and Charlie and I hope to return.
