About Karren Urben..
Born in Reading, Berkshire Karren lives in Brighton where she works in her purpose built studio in her garden.
Having studied Foundation then Fashion at Eastbourne Art College in the Seventies Karren went off in a different direction, joining a Cabaret Band 'The Liquorice Allsorts' performing here and abroad impersonating Rod Stewart amongst other Pop Stars of the time. When she returned to her interest in Art she studied Portrait Painting in UK and USA with Daniel Greene NA.
Karren Founded The Patcham Artists Group in 1997 which was one of Brighton Festivals Established Open House Art Trails running for ten years. Karren now opens her house each May and during the Christmas Open House season as an Independant Venue as part of the AOH Brighton Artists Open Houses Trail.
She is a Member of The Sussex Society of Painters, Sculptors & Engravers. SSP.
Karren is a Painter who specialises in Portraits and Figurative Paintings usualy in either Oil or in Pastel. Loving to paint and enjoying colour Karren also enjoys creating her fictional Dancers and characters The Brighton Babe.
